Jacob is a first generation Panamanian-American. He holds a BSN from the University of New Mexico and is currently completing his residency in Neuroscience at a Level 1 Trauma Center.
Having spent a majority of his upbringing outdoors and in remote areas of Panama, he has endured severe droughts and restricted access to medical care. This has sparked his passion into ensuring equitable access to clean water, the conservation of land, and the collective health of people living in areas of limited resources. He has served alongside AmeriCorps and the New Mexico Youth Conservation Corps throughout his undergraduate career and now plans to inspire future generations through hands on opportunities to protect New Mexico's environment, promote equitable access to water, and prevent environmental disasters within their communities.
Marijose holds two degrees in Political Science and International Studies with an area focus in Latin America. She aspires to pursue a law degree in the field of environmental justice where she can focus on water treaties locally and internationally. One of her main goals is to work in a career where she can advocate for indigenous and marginalized communities in an effort to bridge the gaps that pull people apart from understanding what being stewards of our land looks like.
She is a dedicated advocate for environmental sustainability, inclusivity, and fostering an equitable future. With her multilingual background, she approaches situations with diverse perspectives that allow her to effectively communicate and connect global environments. She firmly believes that water conservation is important and needed for us to have a prosperous future. She is excited to be a part of a movement that emphasizes the importance of shaping youth leaders with toolboxes to confront growing environmental and societal concerns.
